Professional Background
John Patrick (JP) Delavin has been teaching corporate finance, financial derivatives, and advanced accounting in Ateneo de Manila University for more than two years now. Prior to joining the academe, he worked as an investment banking associate at Primeiro Partners for more than two years and advised on various transactions, including the PHP2.7bn maiden retail bond issuance by Century Properties and the PHP2.2bn financing for a joint venture between Century and Mitsubishi. He also worked on M&A and capital raising transactions covering several industries, including real estate, consumer finance, infrastructure, and minerals processing. Before Primeiro, JP worked for Seawood Resources, a private equity firm, on various potential M&A deals in agriculture, construction, media, and other industries. He also worked as a budget manager for Alphaland Corporation.
Aside from his work in the academe and experience in finance, JP has also participated in various finance competitions. In 2016, he was invited to the final round of ModelOff Financial Modeling World Championships, the world's largest professional contest for Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. He also participates yearly in the Intercollegiate Finance Competition organized by the Financial Executives of the Philippines as part of the board of judges. He won this same contest when he was in college.
Educational Background
JP graduate cum laude from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Management Engineering in 2012. He received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2016.
