Dr. Luz A. Taposok, a Hubert H. Humphrey fellow of batch 2010-2011, has been named as the new director of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture.
Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel Piñol appointed Dr. Taposok as the new head pf the ATI through Special Order 918, Series of 2016. In support of Dr. Piñol’s campaign to boost the socioeconomic status of the agricultural sector, the newly designated director encouraged ATI employees to always seek opportunities to develop their personal and professional skills that they can use to better serve and empower farmers and fisher-folks. The Special Order further requests attached agencies, service units, regional field offices and corporations to extend their full support to Dr. Taposok.
During Hubert H. Humphrey fellow at the University of California-Riverside, Dr. Taposok conducted research on agricultural education and community extension outreach programs. Prior to her appointment as ATI director, she was a professor at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Extension Education. She was dean of USM-Kidapawan City campus from 2014 to 2015.
She has received numerous honors, including the 2015 Gawad Dangal ng Cotabato award for Community and Public Service and the 2015 Kidapawan Hero. She was also a national finalist in the 2015 Gawad Saka Search for Outstanding Agricultural Scientist category and 2015 Metrobank Search for Outstanding Teacher in the Tertiary Level.
Dr. Taposok was sworn in at the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture last October 3, 2016.
