The Hubert H. Humphrey Alumni of the Philippines had their Get-together and Election of Officers at the St. Francis Shangri-La Place, Mandaluyong City last January 28, 2017.
Atty. Arnel Bañas, outgoing president of the Hubert Humphrey Alumni Association gave a report on the events that were successfully hosted and funding accumulated in the last two years. Twenty-three activities have been organized by the officers which include 11 Humphrey Voices Series (HVS), 11 Turon Specials and 1 Reunion.
The Humphrey Voices Series (HVS), the flagship program of the organization has taken place in Makati, Manila, Los Baños, Cebu City and Davao City with around 1,800 participants spread across 11 HVS sessions. Of all the sessions, the most attended was the 10th HVS in Centro Escolar University on Human Trafficking. The Turon Special screening of “Heneral Luna” which took place at the Senate of the Philippines had the highest number of attendees.
An election followed among Humphrey alumni present during the get-together. The Committee on Elections was composed of Projects Committee Chair of the National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections Corazon Ignacio, Commissioner Linda Hornilla of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board and PAEF Executive Director Dr. Esmeralda Cunanan.
Atty. Arnel Bañas was re-elected as President, Dr. Serlie Jamias was re-elected as Vice-President, Atty. Katryn Cadiente as Secretary-Treasurer, Judge Phillip Aguinaldo as Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.); and Atty. Benedicto Bacani, Atty. Jane Petralba and Miss Kimberly Molitas as Members of the Board. They will be serving as HHH alumni officers for the next two years.
Guests present during the event included Miss Carolyn Glassman, U.S. Embassy- Public Affairs Officer, Ryan Louie Madrid, U.S. Embassy -Cultural Affairs Assistant and members of the PAEF officers and staff.
