The U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program, one of Fulbright Philippines’ scholarship programs for Filipinos, is now accepting online applications for academic year 2020 to 2021. This marks the eighth year that Fulbright Philippines has been sending Filipino scholars to study in the United States through this initiative. To date, 75 scholars from all 10 ASEAN Member States have been awarded scholarships to pursue studies focused on a wide range of subjects including public health, the South China Sea, Indo-Pacific focus, ASEAN economic integration, banking governance, human trafficking, STEM education, food safety, and legal education.
The Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program is open to university faculty, foreign ministry or other government officials. Professionals from the private sector, think tanks, and other NGOs are also welcome to apply. Selected Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholars will travel to the U.S. for three to four months during the spring semester of 2021, where they will carry out scholarly and professional research on priority issues to the ASEAN and the U.S. – ASEAN relationship.
