Dr. Joanne Scillitoe, the 2015-2016 Fulbright-Sycip Distinguished Lecturer, together with Ms. Carolyn Glassman – Public Affairs Counselor US Embassy Manila & PAEF Chairperson, and Esmeralda Cunanan, PAEF/Fulbright Commission in the Philippines Executive Director, made a courtesy call at the office of Mr. Washington SyCip yesterday, February 16, 2016. The lunch meeting that Mr. SyCip hosted afforded the opportunity for Dr. Scillitoe to learn more about profundity of Mr. SyCip, as well as his strong advocacy for quality education for all Filipinos. The Fulbright-SyCip Distinguished Lecturing Award is made possible through the generosity of the Washington SyCip Family Foundation.
Dr. Scillitoe is in the Philippines for 3 weeks (until March 4, 2016) to give lectures on incubation, innovation systems and entrepreneurship in college curricula at several institutions in the country. She is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Academic Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). She previously was an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Michigan Technological University. Prior to her academic career, she had over 17 years of life sciences work experience. Her research interests include incubation processes, technology transfer, innovation processes, and interdisciplinary research processes. She has published and presented over 35 scholarly works and has won several conference best paper awards. She was also the recipient of the NYIT Experiential Learning Faculty award. She received her Ph.D. in Organizational Management, Rutgers University, USA.
