The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is still accepting applications from Filipino college students who want to experience one semester of non-degree academic study in the United States for free. The Global UGRAD program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by World Learning. Since 2008, over 2,200 college students have already been selected as Global UGRAD scholars.
Fulbright Philippines assists World Learning in promoting the Global UGRAD program in the country. One of the major goals of the program is to create mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries, which is very similar to the objectives of the scholarship grants under the Fulbright Program. The Philippines is just one of the 61 participating countries with Global UGRAD student-representatives.
Successful applicants will be enrolled in full-time, non-degree, undergraduate course work chosen from their U.S. host institution’s curriculum. Global UGRAD scholars will live in campus housing facilities with American peers and will be required to participate in community services, orientations, and end-of-program workshops. For the current application period, successful grantees are expected to begin their study in the U.S. as early as August 2020.
