ANDRE’ SOCORRO F. DORIA
Andre’, fondly called Dre’, is an undergraduate student and scholar pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Development Communication at Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. He progressed in his academics as a consistent honor student with a distinction in journalism and a commendation in community involvement.
Beyond his studies, he sustained an active campus life as a student leader who developed an ardor for service. He served as a Senior Scout, Red Cross Youth Volunteer, and Junior Mentor under the Thinkids World Project, an initiative of a European body where he experienced and facilitated student learning through multiple intelligences. Aside from this, he competed as a campus journalist under regional radio broadcasting and national photojournalism categories of various press conferences. He was then conferred with the Excellence award among his fellow youth during the Golden Founding Anniversary of his home province, Camiguin Island. His dynamic youth led him to pursue higher studies with a college course that communicates for development—with a heart—where he recognized the precepts of social change. Presently a sophomore, he is a Dean’s lister with a St. Francis Xavier University Scholarship, while holding office as the Associate Secretary of the XU Development Communication Society. He also contributes to a non-profit organization and network that capacitates young citizens to produce environmental media content grounded on solutions and hope.
Cultivated by Licean and Atenean values, he aspires to communicate development issues across media for a more literate and informed citizenry. He also seeks to enrich his leadership and professional multimedia competence through the perspectives of the world while widening his appreciation of the great outdoors.
