Bernadeth completed her PhD in Engineering (Major in Seafood Science and Technology) at Gyeongsang National University in Korea. She took her Master of Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines - Visayas in Miagao, Iloilo. Bernadeth’s researches focus on Carbohydrate Chemistry, specifically on Extraction, Characterization, and Bioactivities Assesssment of Glycosaminoglycans from marine organisms. As a Fulbright Visiting scholar, Bernadeth will spend four months at the Department of Biomolecular Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi under the supervision of Dr. Vitor H. Pomin, an expert in Carbohydrate chemistry, to carry out her research project on “Characterization of Glycosaminoglycans from Marine Organisms”.

Bernadeth has research community extension activities on working with women and their households in some provinces in Iloilo by conducting trainings for creation of cottage industries in their communities.
