Mr. Recto is a licensed professional teacher who teaches English language arts and serves as the assistant principal, English department head, and school paper adviser at Jose Rizal Institute (Orani). He graduated Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in English at Bataan Peninsula State University (Balanga Campus) in 2015. As an undergraduate student, he was an active member of the English Language and Literature Advocates, frequently seen collaborating on meaningful projects with students from other majors and colleges and even international visitors like Korean ESL learners and US Peace Corps volunteers. In 2014, he was declared the most English-proficient student in the College of Education after topping a college-wide English proficiency survey. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, he worked for the BPO industry in Manila but returned to the field of education a year later. Since becoming a licensed teacher in 2016, Mr. Recto has trained student writers and orators to compete at academic and journalistic contests from the division to the national levels. He became a TESOL-Certified ESL teacher at TESOL Asia in 2017 and completed a Creative Writing Specialization program hosted by Wesleyan University in 2020. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in teaching literature at the Philippine Normal University and pastoral studies at the WorldReach Bible Institute. Besides being an educator, Mr. Recto is a singer who has performed on radio, television, and theater and continues to sing in various live events and special occasions.
