Bio / Write-up:

Loreta Sol L. Dinlayan is currently the Director of Bukidnon Studies Center and a faculty member of the Sociology and Social Science Department of Bukidnon State University in Bukidnon, Philippines. She collaboratively works with the indigenous communities in the province through research and community extension projects.  

Loreta Sol, as a grantee of Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, will spend four months in The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago to explore some of the Fay Cooper-Cole collection of artifacts, specifically those items collected from Bukidnon in 1910. With the belief that material culture is a repository of narratives about people and culture, she has been facilitating in the production of online and onsite learning materials for Bukidnon studies through radio programs, lectures on cultural heritage and cultural art exhibitions. Her explorations to the selected artifacts is expected to produce a learning material which is to be added in the collection of literature of The Field Museum and Bukidnon Studies Center.  

 With her cultural affiliation as belonging to Bukidnon tribe, Loreta Sol enjoys writing poems and feature stories related to her community engagement with the locals. These writings are accessible from www.balugto.blogspot.com and from other social media platforms.
