Micah Seiri Maur is a 3rd-year FEU Entrance Scholarship (ES) grantee currently pursuing International Studies at Far Eastern University. Mika is affiliated with their program organization International Studies Society under the Research Committee of the Office of the Vice President, and with FEU Scholars’ Society as Executive Member of the Narratives Committee.

Mika’s secondary education journey exposed them to sensitivities and disadvantages related to gender and development in education. They’ve since dreamed of returning to the sector as an educator, aiming to create educational spaces that champion gender inclusivity in the Philippines. Mika hopes their time in the U.S. will offer a space for cultural exchange, centered on conversations about gender and education development, and how individual actions contribute to societal changes for the better.

Mika also hopes to create meaningful connections, bringing stories home with as much adoration as sharing the ones from home. Their wonder for the world is driven by the curiosity and perseverance of their parents, encouraged by their sisters’ love, and complemented by their friends’ lives. They hope to wear this wonder on their sleeve as they wander forests, visit museums, read at libraries, and frequent local cafés.
