Rachel Mecaela Baxal is an Iska from Rosario, Cavite, a third year student, pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) at PUP-MB. She chose this course to develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles, concepts, and practices involved in financial accounting, management accounting, and taxation. Upon getting the degree, she hopes to utilize her acquired accounting knowledge to contribute to the community through promoting financial literacy, supporting economic growth and being an asset to the public sector as a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Rachel has been a consistent multi-awarded student since elementary. In fact, she graduated as the batch valedictorian of her elementary and secondary batches. She topped her class on her college freshmen year and swept the board in several University-wide contests. She’s also known in the field of Campus Journalism as she was able to bag awards from the National School Press Conference (NSPC) as an Editorial Writer. Despite being a self-supporting student, she showed that she has the kind of drive and passion for learning that not even poverty could ever hinder.

Being an awardee of the Global UGrad Scholarship, Rachel is excited to experience USA and dive into endless possibilities. Having to acquire international education and exposing oneself to community service and volunteerism in a foreign land, she’s certain that she’ll go back to her home country with so much to share and to give to her fellow Filipino people.

Currently, Rachel is also an active leader of her church youth organization called Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan (KKB) of Jesus Is Lord Church. This is where most of her community outreach involvements and volunteer duties take place. If Rachel is not doing school church or school works, she would spend her spare time in content creation and social media managing.
