Rose Rementina

Rose Marie Jane Rementina graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2017 at the University of Santo Tomas College of Education with a degree in Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Special Education. She had versatile roles working in Philippine private and public schools, at the Department of Education Bureau of Learning Resources-Quality Assurance Division, and in nonprofit organizations.

When she joined Teach for the Philippines, a non-government organization that helps improve the public school system, she taught and led an advocacy project for the inclusion and expansion of educational and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities where she co-founded “Cafésidad: Good Food Crafted by Good Hearts”, an award-winning simulation café facility that enhanced the employability skills of her learners with disabilities and promoted disability awareness and inclusivity at Barangka Elementary School, Marikina. Furthermore, she is currently the Technical Officer of Humanity and Inclusion-Philippines, an independent and impartial aid organization, where she supports an inclusive employment project that champions equal economic participation and empowerment of youth with disabilities in some urban and peri-urban communities in the country.

In the next two years as a Filipino Fulbright scholar, she will pursue her Master of Arts in Special Education at one of the best special education graduate programs in the US - the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She aims to study the relevant Transition Services in school settings that would propel learners or persons with disabilities to independently and meaningfully participate from school to work and in the community. After her studies, she envisions establishing a local institution with a contextualized curriculum and school system that would prepare every Filipino learner with or without disability from education to employment.

On a typical day and in her leisure time, Rose Marie Jane allots time to journal, read the Bible, cook, and spend quality time with her loved ones. She also likes watching the sunset and listening to pop music.
