Sandra Manulat
Sandra is an Assistant Professor at the College of Marine and Allied Sciences of the Mindanao State University-Naawan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao. She has been teaching physics to marine biology and environmental science students since 2011 which sparked her fascination with the physics of the ocean. Her current research work includes projects such as the bio-physical characterization of coastal waters and coastal integrity vulnerability evaluation of the coastal areas in Mindanao.
As a Fulbright scholar, she will be pursuing a PhD in Oceanography specializing in Physical Oceanography at the Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. She is keen on studying the spatial and temporal evolution of coastal hazards such as coastal flooding and shoreline erosion due to sea- level rise, waves, and intensification of tropical cyclones. She hopes to contribute by working towards science-based coastal planning and climate change adaptation mechanisms for the coastal zone.
She is a certified PADI Rescue diver, and she dives both for work and for fun.
