January 23, 2018 – This year marks the celebration of a strong friendship between the Filipino and American people in the last 70 years since the Fulbright program started in the country.
Earlier this week, PAEF Executive Director Benjamin Garcia paid a courtesy call to Philippine Ambassador to the U.S. His Excellency Jose Manuel Romualdez to discuss the significance of people-to-people educational exchanges in enhancing relations between the two nations. The meeting was held at the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington, D.C.
“The Ambassador and I talked about the importance and legacy of the Fulbright program in the Philippines. He remains committed to continuing the Philippine Embassy’s support to Filipinos studying in the US under the Fulbright program, as well as US scholars going to the Philippines for research and lectures. The Ambassador also further expressed support to the celebration of the 70th year of Fulbright in the Philippines which is a significant milestone being the oldest Fulbright program in the world.” – Benjamin Garcia, PAEF Executive Director
H.E. Ambassador Romualdez was appointed by the Commission on Appointments (CA) last August 2017 as the Philippine Ambassador to the United States, while Mr. Benjamin Garcia joined the PAEF Secretariat last November 2017.
