The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) welcomes the appointment of Mr. Julio “July” S. Amador III as the new Executive Director of the PAEF Secretariat and member of the PAEF Board of Directors.
Mr. Amador was Director of the Performance and Projects Management Office-Security, Justice, and Peace Cluster at the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, Office of the President of the Philippines from December 2017 to November 2018. He also served as Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Service Institute for three years from 2014 to 2017.
In 2012, Mr. Amador attended the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University as a Fulbright Graduate Student where he earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Security Studies as well as a Master of Arts in International Relations. He was also an Asia Studies Visiting Fellow at the East-West Center in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Amador has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and op-eds/commentaries in on-line news media. He co-edited the book “A Handbook on Philippine Public Diplomacy.” Aside from his publications, he is an active participant in Track 1.5 and Track 2 diplomatic processes on regional security issues. He is a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress and serves as a member of the Board of Advisers to the New Era University-ASEAN Studies Center. He teaches International Relations, International Security, International Organizations, and International Law in various professional schools and universities.
Mr. Amador’s strong background in policy and research supports PAEF’s objective of strengthening links with the academic and policy community. His expertise in foreign affairs and international relations brings a promising future for carrying out the foundation’s mission of recruiting the best and the brightest young leaders and professionals for the service of Philippine and American societies.
