The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) welcomes the appointment of Mr. Benjamin “Benjie” Garcia as the new Executive Director of the PAEF Secretariat and member of the PAEF Board of Directors.
Mr. Garcia was previously the Executive Director for the Australian-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ANZCHAM). Reporting to the President and Board of Directors, he had overall strategic and operational responsibility for the ANZCHAM Secretariat’s personnel, projects, budget, and administrative activities to execute its mission.
Prior to ANZCHAM, Mr. Garcia was the Education Manager and Business Development Manager at the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) within the Australian Embassy in Manila. In this role, he implemented Australia’s education marketing and transnational education partnership strategy in the Philippines.
Mr. Benjie Garcia succeeds Dr. Esmeralda Cunanan who sat as PAEF’s Executive Director for 13 years. In summary, he is an executive-level professional with more than 19 years of work experience in a wide range of industries, with 10 years in the international education sector. He has extensive knowledge and achievements in international trade and investment, marketing and promotions, events, and program management and international business. His expertise in international business and education management supports the organization’s objective to strengthen links with the academic and policy communities. A strong partnership with business and philanthropic organizations will be strategic to carrying out PAEF’s mission of recruiting the best and the brightest young leaders and professionals for the service of Philippine and American societies.
